About Me

This page describe about myself  at glance.

I was born on 20 January 1975 in Kg. Paya Teh, Jerantut, Pahang. I had my early education at Sekolah Kebangsaan (LKTP) Felda Sg. Retang (SKSR) in the period of 1982 to 1987. I continued my secondary school at Sekolah Menengah Padang Saujana (SMPS), Jerantut, Pahang and completed my Lower Certificate of Education (LCE) and Malaysia Certificate of Education (MCE) in 1990 and 1992, respectively.

At university level, I went for my Diploma in Forestry (1993-1996) and Bachelor of Forestry Science (1996-1998) at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). In acknowledgement of my contribution of research in Bachelor level, the Faculty of Forestry, UPM and Cerebos Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. awarded me the Excellent Award (Anugerah Bistari) in 1998. I graduated with Master Science in Applied Remote Sensing from UPM on 8 September 2000.

While conducting research in my Master program in 1998, I am also active as young researcher/Research Assistant at Faculty of Forestry with Remote Sensing/GIS Research Group (RESGIS), particularly on the conservation, sustainable management and rational utilization of tropical forests. I work directed research project and activities on the application of remote sensing/GIS in forest conservation and management. In 1999, I was transferred to The Centre for Precision Agriculture & Bioresource Remote Sensing, UPM. To-date, I have published a total of more than 12 publications in the forms of papers in refereed journals, proceedings and presented my findings in scientific conferences locally and internationally.

I am also very active in co-curriculum activities in the university and in professional societies. In November 1998, Sultan Alaeddin Suleiman Shah College (KOSASS) awarded me the “Best College Leadership” for my contribution to the college excellence. I am also serving as a Residential Fellow of KOSASS in 1999 and Second Lieutenant (Platoon Commander) in Reserve Officer Training Unit (ROTU), UPM since 1996. I am also a member of scientific and professional organization such as Institute of Forester Malaysia (IRIM), Malaysian Remote Sensing Society (MRSS), Commonwealth Forestry Association (CFA), National Geographic Society, U.S.A, Malaysian Agricultural Economic Association (MAEA), WIRAMUDA Organization, Malaysian Society of Marine Sciences (MSMS) and Forestry Post-Graduate Society (ForGrad) and Welfare and Social Club, Institute of Bioscience, UPM.

As a forester, my long-term goal is to achieve excellence in the field of Geoinformatics Science and Survey through the pursuit of knowledge on the sustainable management and development of bioresource through environmental management and conservation.

As a academician at the Faculty of Forestry, my mission is to contribute to the advancement of teaching and research in UPM and at international level through my contributions as well as those of my fellow researchers.

My recent activity is conducting a research project in Ph.D programme in Geoinformatics Technology at Cranfield University, Silsoe at United Kingdom for the period of 2001-2004.
